It suddenly became fall (at least in New York City, anyway). A new chill in the air used to mean beautiful crimson, gold and burnt orange leaves.

But now, scientists say climate change is having an irreversible effect on fall foliage: leaves will change color later, thanks to rising carbon dioxide levels, and their colors may become richer.
