This summer, Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is inviting Southwest Florida residents and visitors to step into one of the region’s most extraordinary wild places—with sunset strolls, night tours, half-price admission for Florida residents, a community free day, and hands-on nature programs for all ages.
Recognized as an Important Bird Area, the regional gateway site for the Great Florida Birding Trail, and a Ramsar-designated Wetland of International Importance, the Sanctuary offers an unforgettable Naples wilderness experience along its 2.25-mile boardwalk beneath the cool shade of towering, 500-year-old bald cypress trees. Inside the Blair Visitor Center, guests can cool off while exploring interactive exhibits in the Spurlino Foundation Discovery Center.
Home to the largest old-growth bald cypress forest in North America, Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary offers visitors a rare chance to experience Florida’s wild beauty up close. Get tickets.
See the Swamp Come Alive at Sunset
As the sun drops and the boardwalk cools, Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary transforms. Offered several times a month, guided sunset strolls and night tours give guests a chance to experience Corkscrew Swamp in a whole new way—from sunset at the observation tower to the sounds of nocturnal wildlife as they become active. Family night and sunset tours are also available.
NABA Butterfly Count
Butterfly lovers, curious beginners, and seasoned naturalists can join Corkscrew’s annual July butterfly survey on July 21. Participants will team up to identify and record butterflies within the count circle as part of the North American Butterfly Association’s community science surveys across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Find butterfly events here.
Introduction to Nature Journaling
Guests can slow down, look more closely, and connect with nature through guided nature-journaling workshops. No drawing experience is needed—just curiosity. Journaling materials will be provided, or participants may bring their own.
Temporary Closure in August
The Blair Visitor Center, Spurlino Foundation Discovery Center, and boardwalk will be closed to visitors for annual maintenance from August 17 through 30, 2026. Guided experiences will be offered during this time.
Half-price Admission for Florida Residents in September
Florida residents can explore the Sanctuary for half price in September. Visitors can purchase tickets online, then show proof of residency at the admissions desk to enjoy this annual savings opportunity.
Community Free Day on September 19
Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary will welcome the community for a special free admission day on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Guests can enjoy a full day of activities, including:
