Enjoy Moonlight on the Boardwalk and Half-Price Admission at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary

Florida residents invited to enjoy the Sanctuary for half price in August and September.
Moonlight on the boardwalk

The public is invited to experience a magical evening at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary on August 7, 2025. Under the nearly full moon, guests can explore the 2.25-mile boardwalk through an ancient bald cypress forest with trees more than 500 years old.

General admission begins at 6:30 p.m. The moon rises at 7:10 p.m., with sunset at 8 p.m. The event concludes at 9:30 p.m.  Adults enjoy discounted admission for $8 and $3 admission for kids ages 6-14. Children 5 and under enter for free.

A variety of activities are planned on the boardwalk:

  • Sound ID station
  • Storytelling with flashlights and shadow puppets
  • Bio fluorescent station
  • Spotting scopes in the wet prairie for wildlife and night sky viewing
  • Bat station

In addition, there will be a touch table on nocturnal animals from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., a moth station on the lower patio starting at 7:30 p.m., and the Nature Store will be open from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. with snacks, drinks, and merchandise. Members receive 20% off Nature Store merchandise, and all guests will receive a 20% discount on any moon-related merchandise.

Red cellophane is available (for this event) at the Admissions desk to cover flashlights or cameras/cell phones that use a white flash, as red light is less disruptive to nocturnal wildlife. Guests are encouraged to wear a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and socks to deter mosquitoes.

Online tickets for Moonlight on the Boardwalk are recommended and can be purchased here. If inclement weather results in event cancellation, all tickets will be refunded.

Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is the gateway to the largest old-growth bald cypress in North America on a 2.25-mile boardwalk and offers many ways to enjoy nature, including guided experiences. Audubon’s Blair Visitor Center and boardwalk, located at 375 Sanctuary Road W. in Naples, are open daily at 8 a.m. with the last admission at 1 p.m. The Center offers a Nature Store with many locally made products and gifts. Admission is $17 for adults, $6 for kids 6-14, and free for children and members.

During August and September, Florida residents with proof of residence can enjoy half-price admission to the Sanctuary. Closed for annual maintenance from August 16-29, 2025. Online tickets for any visit, event, or guided program are recommended.
