It All Begins With Birds: Bird Migration Celebration

Join us as we celebrate the wonder of bird migration and how it unites us across the hemisphere.

Birds make incredible migratory journeys, connecting us all across the Western Hemisphere. As we celebrate 120 years of Audubon protecting birds and the places they need, our “It All Begins With Birds: Bird Migration Celebration” campaign marks these birds’ awe-inspiring treks through community-led stories, hybrid live-streamed community events, and impactful video storytelling. Scroll down to dive deep into the three ways our campaign is taking flight.

It All Begins With Birds: My Bird Journey

Much like the incredible migratory journeys birds make that connect habitats and species across the Western Hemisphere, the experiences we have with birds connect each of us. We want to hear about your own journey with birds. From now until November 10, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. ET, post a video of you sharing your story on Instagram using the hashtag #MyBirdJourney or #AvesPorLoAlto and @audubonsociety in the post for a chance to be featured in social media content or on our website. We’ll be giving away 1 For the Birds: The Birdsong Project 20 LP Box Set to each of 2 randomly selected eligible submissions.

  1. Record yourself selfie style on your phone sharing a story about your connection with birds. If you need inspiration, look at our potential jumping-off questions below.

  • What is a powerful memory you have with Audubon?
  • What is a fun birding experience that stands out to you?

Recording Tips

  • We recommend recording yourself in a well-lit area with a clean background—recording outdoors is ideal.
    • Please record yourself vertically on your phone, either selfie style or having someone record you.
    • For iPhones, if possible, turn off HDR video in your settings.
  • Please try to record in an area with low background noise.

Don’t have an Instagram account? You can still get involved by submitting your bird journey story through our online form, however going this route will not earn you an entry into the Sweepstakes.

Any potential winner who does not respond to Audubon’s notification message with the required information, within the specified time period, that cannot be contacted or is found to be ineligible will be disqualified and an alternate winner may be selected.

If a potential Grand Prize winner is a Canadian resident, within three (3) days of confirmation of the information received from such potential winner in response to the Social Notification, such potential winner will receive a second notification (the “Second Notification”) via email from the Sponsor and will be required to correctly answer a skill-based mathematical test question without mechanical or other aid (which may, in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor, be administered online, by email or other electronic means or by telephone) within a limited time-period in order to be eligible to receive their prize. Bird Migration Celebration Tour

Birds make incredible migratory journeys, connecting us all across the Western Hemisphere. To celebrate the next stage of these birds’ awe-inspiring, southbound treks, we’ll follow their lead with a series of hybrid community events that trace the very pathways of the migratory birds we aim to protect.

Our “It All Begins with Birds: Bird Migration Celebration Tour” takes flight in Canada—home to the Boreal Forest, North America’s vital bird nursery—and lands in Colombia, the world’s most bird-rich country. At each ‘tour stop,’ we’ll be hosting a free, multilingual event featuring Audubon scientists, partners, artists, and local communities. These gatherings will be open to the public in-person and streamed online to ensure everyone can join the celebration—wherever they are.

Audubon blends art and science to inspire action, engaging people through the wonder of birds. Join us for an unforgettable season of discovery, cutting-edge science, and community as millions of birds are on the wing, covering thousands of miles across oceans and continents.
