Green Mountain Audubon Center Camps

We offer camps during the summer and school vacation weeks.

Our day camps invite children to explore the world around them, get in touch with all of their senses, and connect to the plants and animals that call the Green Mountains home. There are moments of magic every day at camp, whether around the bonfire, on a hike to Lookout Rock, or scooping for critters at the pond.

Audubon's staff of experienced naturalists and educators is dedicated to providing a fun and educational experience for all campers. We want to inspire your child to connect more deeply with the natural world, build on their talents, and expand their ecological knowledge. While attending our day camps in Huntington, Vermont, they are bound to experience the thrill of hands-on exploration while enjoying the beautiful scenery that only the Green Mountains can offer!

Camp Information

Spend your school vacations with us, outside at Green Mountain Audubon Center! Join us for just one day or the whole week. Our vacation camps mirror our summer day camps in many ways, making them a great opportunity to try Audubon programs for a day or two.

  • Age: Students grade K-5th (approximate ages 5-11 at the time of the program)
  • Pricing: $70/day Audubon members save 7% with discount code "vacayay"
  • Timing: Full days, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

We typically offer camps on the following cycle and themes. For the 2025-26 school year we will be offering camps the following dates:

November 24th & 25th

Before things get quiet for winter, let’s take this chance to view the center through the eyes of the animals who live here and shape the landscape. And we’re not talking turkey!

February 23rd –27th

What’s up (and down) with winter? Explore everything winter at Audubon and discover what is happening above and below the surface of the snow.

April 20th- 24th

Spring is coming! Celebrate the arrival of spring like a naturalist. Participants will explore themes of renewal, growth, and nature’s awakening through art, inquiry, and play.

Cancellation Policy:
  • Cancellations made more than 14 days before the first day of the program will receive a refund for everything except the $20 administration fee.
  • Cancellations 7 to 14 days before the first day of the program will receive half of their tuition.
  • Cancellations made less than one week before the first day of the program will not receive a refund.

Our Nature Camp offers half and full day outdoor play and exploration for 3 to 14-year-old campers. Each week of camp focuses on a different theme, but all campers will get a chance to search for wildlife, make crafts, go on hikes, and hone their nature awareness skills while exploring the most magical places at Audubon.

We offer eight weeks of camp throughout the summer, roughly late June–mid-August.  Our camp uses a lottery for registration. The lottery opens for 10 days around Valentine’s Day. You can enter the lottery anytime in that window. We notify families of any camps they were selected for around March 5th.

Eligibility Criteria
Two children, running and laughing while holding hands.

Safe participation in Audubon programs requires certain physical, mental, emotional, and social health abilities, and we are therefore limited in the types of accommodations we are able to provide. Please review these criteria to be sure our programs are a good fit for your children.

Please call us to discuss any of the points below.

Age and Ability

Participants must be of the appropriate age and ability for the session they are requesting.

Health and Safety

Participants must be in good physical, mental, emotional, and social health to safely engage in camp activities.

  • We are unable to provide 1:1 supervision but welcome participants who come with individualized support that caregivers have arranged in advance. Please contact us to discuss any support your child may need.
  • Campers must be able to stay with the group and follow directions.

Outdoor Activities

Our programs are primarily outdoors in all weather conditions. Participants should be comfortable being outdoors for extended periods.

  • Participants will encounter varied terrain, including steep areas, stairs, rocks, roots, mud, and gravel. There are times when we will be off-trail.
  • A gear list will be provided. If a lack of gear presents a barrier to participation, please let us know in advance.

Potty Training

Campers must be fully potty trained. We can assist children with occasional accidents but cannot support campers who rely on pull-ups that require frequent changes. Campers who attend programs based out of our Clubhouse must be comfortable using port-a-potties or outhouses.

Social Participation

Participants must be able to engage with other children and not pose a risk to themselves, other campers, or staff. Participants must be able to interact responsibly in a group. Participants should come with a positive attitude and willingness to follow directions and participate in camp activities.

 Respectful Environment

All participants and their caregivers are expected to contribute to the safety of one another and Audubon Vermont.

  • Participants and caregivers will contribute to a safe learning environment byusing respectful language and appropriate physical behavior.
  • Participants and caregivers must respect the choices of others, including mask-wearing preferences.
  • We encourage participants to share their pronouns if they want to and Audubon staff will use the name and pronouns that a participant requests.
