Goose on the Loose:

August 11, 2015, Port Moody, Canada An injured goose attracted police attention by running into the middle of the road. The goose was taken to rehab.

Pot-Smuggling Pigeons:

August 11, 2015, Alajuela, Costa Rica — A pigeon was apprehended while smuggling 14 grams of marijuana and 14 grams of cocaine into a Costa Rica prison. The bird was transporting the drugs via a fanny pack. The drugs were confiscated, and the pigeon was sent to a zoo.

Realistic Goals:

August 12, 2015, Kirkleatham, United Kingdom After a squirrel chewed through their enclosure, 10 African Taveta Golden Weavers escaped the Kirkleatham Owl Center. They made it as far as the nut feeder next door.

Soccer Debacle:

August 12, 2015, Kearney, MO — Police were called when an owl in Missouri became trapped in the netting of a soccer goal. The owl was disentangled and set free.

Fishy Food:

August 6, 2015, County Durham, United Kingdom A U.K. woman found two dead baby birds inside the Aldi fishcakes that she was preparing to cook. (Aldi recalled other packages of the product.)

Police Escort:

August 8, 2015, Peabody, MA From Patch.com: “There was a report of an injured bird on Elaine Avenue. The bird was escorted to a bush.

Eagles Vs Drone:

August 11, 2015, Australia  A Wedge-Tailed Eagle tackled a drone in mid-air, sending it tumbling 50 feet to the ground. The drone required $31 in repairs. The eagle was uninjured.
