State of Florida Announces Third Round of NRDA Early Restoration Projects

Today the third round of Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) early restoration projects to be funded in Florida was announced, a sweeping package of Panhandle projects aimed at addressing economic, recreational and resource damages resulting from the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

In particular, projects such as ferry service access to Gulf Islands National Seashore in Pensacola, seagrass restoration in Panhandle bays, and recreational access improvements at Apalachicola River Wildlife and Environmental Area represent the best of the intent behind this funding: to work to make the Gulf region’s resources whole again and to provide opportunities for the public to enjoy them sustainably.

"Audubon is eager to see all projects implemented such that they improve protection for the region’s vulnerable natural resources," said Julie Wraithmell, Director of Wildlife Conservation for Audubon Florida.
