Annie joined the Audubon Upper Mississippi River team in December 2025 as the Range Ecologist for west, central, and southwest Minnesota. Her primary focus is working closely with ranchers and landowners across Minnesota to advance bird-friendly land stewardship on working grasslands through the Audubon Conservation Ranching program. Before joining Audubon, Annie earned a Master of Science in Natural Resources Management from North Dakota State University where she studied wetland and rangeland restoration. Her research included vegetation surveys on degraded and restored rangelands, examining how differing restoration methods and invasive species control affect plant community composition. She also contributed to projects studying the effect of grazing timing on invasive grass populations and how native seed rates affect invasive species reemergence following restoration.
Annie attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Environmental Studies. Following her undergraduate degree, she spent time with the National Park Service as a Biological Sciences Technician for the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway in St. Croix Falls, WI where she helped restore oak savanna habitat along the St. Croix River and treated invasive species in and along the riverway. She also worked as an Ecological Field Technician for Minnesota Native Landscapes (MNL) on their prairie seed farm in Glyndon, MN where she managed remnant prairie through prescribed fire and processed native seed.
Annie lives in Moorhead, MN with her partner, John, and their two cats, Raine and Aldo. She likes to stay active through yoga and long walks in the prairie to look for native plants and birds. In her free time, she loves to thrift, garden, and read.
