Henrik Westerkam

As a GIS Data Analyst for National Audubon Society, Henrik Westerkam applies skills in data management, geoprocessing, spatial analysis, processing of global and climate data, and map design to support regional, national, and hemispheric bird conservation initiatives. He supports Audubon’s conservation and climate science teams by assembling relevant spatial datasets, conducting spatial analyses, and generating geodatabases and maps. Henrik also aids in the visualization and communication of scientific results through the creation of ESRI web mapping applications, Story Maps, and dashboards.  

Prior to joining Audubon in 2019, Henrik worked on projects that included modeling vulnerability to sea level rise, flooding, and extreme heat in Miami-Dade County, mapping estuarine sediment concentrations using satellite imagery to model salt marsh vulnerability to sea level rise, and analyzing grassland health trends in Montana to prioritize partnerships for bison reintroduction. Henrik holds a M.S. in Geographic Information Science from Clark University and a B.A. in Environmental Science from Northwestern University.
