Director, Science Technology

Kathy Dale is Audubon’s Director of Science Technology, focusing on the technology tools of the community science programs and data workflows for Audubon’s science products. Kathy also leads Audubon’s community science team in delivering programs such as Audubon’s Christmas Bird Count, Climate Watch and Hummingbirds at Home

Upon joining Audubon in 2001, Kathy’s role was to help grow the new online interactive components of Audubon’s Christmas Bird Count, the Great Backyard Bird Count and Audubon’s eBird collaboration with Cornell’s Laboratory of Ornithology.

Kathy spent much of her career in information technology for national non-profit organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund, Physicians for Social Responsibility, and the Audubon Naturalist Society. She became a community scientist when she participated in her first Christmas Bird Count soon after college.
