Kelly joined Audubon Great Plains in August of 2024 as the Senior Coordinator of Outreach for North Dakota and South Dakota. Outdoor adventures seen through the eyes of her two children delight her and reinforce the importance of environmental education as well as foundational outdoor experiences. Kelly worked in the field of public education for nearly two decades as a teacher and administrator, but it’s always been her desire to share with others what has been most nurturing to her throughout all seasons of her own life—environmental education. With Audubon, she enjoys supporting and planning nature-focused experiences that educate, empower, and spark curiosity.
Growing up near Minnesota’s scenic St. Croix River amidst a dazzling abundance of wildlife and outdoor opportunities ignited excitement in her about nature. Long, quiet days exploring forests, grasslands, rivers, lakes, and streams fostered curiosity, wonder, and a deep appreciation for the natural world and those who protect it.
In 2006 Kelly earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from North Dakota State University, followed by a Master of Science in Education through Valley City State University in 2014. A passion for life-long learning is the cornerstone of her excitement for the field of education, as well as a belief that it’s a privilege to work with youth and the public. Along with ample time adventuring in the outdoors, Kelly likes to spend her free time reading, gardening, and in the company of family and pets.
