About

Teri is a community engagement and public education professional with over 10 years of experience building partnerships, leading trainings, and mobilizing volunteer networks across diverse communities. Her work has spanned citizen science, partnership development, and statewide engagement initiatives in Alaska, Mexico, and Washington.

After serving as a National Park Ranger Interpreter in Alaska, Teri joined the Peace Corps in Mexico, where she partnered with rural and Indigenous communities to develop youth-led citizen science programs. She co-created Aves de la Presa Jalpan, a bird-monitoring initiative that continues today and contributed to new conservation policy, community engagement programs, and sustainable ecotourism infrastructure within the Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve, including the publication of a bilingual bird book and guide training.

Originally from Alaska, Teri holds a Master of Science in Natural Resource Management from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Spanish. She lives on a sailboat in Seattle and spends her free time sailing, fixing boats, and working with her partner in their small business, Ballard Kayak.
