Avian Biologist, Coastal
About

Tim is an ornithologist who earned his PhD from the University of Montana, where he studied life history evolution, behavioral ecology, and physiology of songbirds in Malaysian Borneo and Montana.

Before that, he earned his MS from Simon Fraser University, where he studied how habitat restoration and brood parasitism have influenced long-term demographic trends of riparian songbirds in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. He has also worked on a variety of other field research projects throughout North and South America, including examining the life history strategies and physiological performance of Neotropical birds along elevational gradients in Colombia and Peru, completing large-scale bird and habitat surveys in the mid-western and western USA, evaluating how testosterone influences individual behavior and social status of Manakins in Ecuador, and utilizing tracking devices to reveal the migratory paths of various riparian songbirds and aerial insectivores.

Outside of work, Tim enjoys birding, traveling, and live music.
