South Carolina Native Plant Week

Our Goals
To raise awareness about the benefits of native plants for birds, insects, and the climate.
What We’re Doing
Since 2018 South Carolina Native Plant Week has been celebrated across the state. Through this annual designation Audubon and partners promote the use of native plants through a variety of activities, workshops, lectures, volunteer opportunities, plant sales, and events.

In 2017 the state legislature proclaimed the third week in October as South Carolina Native Plant Week, and in 2018 the resolution was passed to permanently declare the third week of October as Native Plant Week. Every year since Audubon and partners across the state coordinate activities to promote native plants and advocate for their use in our communities.

Native plants are key to support biodiversity in our state, and when we have healthy biodiversity, we have healthy bird populations, and communities!
