Notes from the World Seabird Conference
September 24, 2026 — In September, Audubon Washington Coastal Program Manager Anna Vallery traveled to Hobart, Tasmania, for the 4th World Seabird Conference, where seabird researchers and conservationists from around the world gathered to share how seabirds are responding to a changing climate. Anna co-convened a workshop on new technologies for monitoring seabird colonies, including SeeBird, the machine learning tool Audubon developed with Audubon Texas and Rice University to detect and count nesting birds in drone imagery.
