Guided Nature Walk | Summer Sky Hunters

This walk will run from July - August

Summer is one of the best times to observe the birds of prey that call Seward Park home. Join us for an engaging exploration of the park's resident and seasonal raptors, from fish-hunting Ospreys and soaring Bald Eagles to the stealthy Cooper's and Sharp-shinned Hawks that weave through the forest canopy. This time of year also offers a unique opportunity to encounter young owls, including Barred Owls and Great Horned Owls, as newly fledged birds spend their days practicing hunting skills and learning how to navigate the forest.

The program begins with a 45-minute indoor presentation led by naturalist and guide Nick Dujnic, where participants will learn what makes a raptor a raptor, how to identify local species, and the remarkable adaptations that allow these birds to thrive as predators.

Following the presentation, we'll spend time exploring Seward Park's old-growth forest, shoreline, and open waters in search of these incredible hunters—watching the skies for soaring hawks and eagles while listening for clues that might reveal a young owl tucked among the trees.

Come discover the power, precision, and beauty of the Pacific Northwest's birds of prey—and learn to see the park through the eyes of a raptor. Binoculars will be provided for those who don't have them.

Program Registration & Waitlist Policy

IMPORTANT: Please read the following carefully to ensure you are fully registered.

You are officially registered only if you receive a confirmation email from Mobilize stating your status as “Registered.” Shortly before the event, you will receive a notice to "Confirm" your registration.

If you are on the waitlist, you are not registered unless you receive a separate notification informing you that you have been moved from the waitlist to registered status.

If you have not received a “Registered” confirmation email at least 24 hours prior to the event, you did not secure a spot in the program. Please do not come by anticipating no-shows.

If you are registered, please continue to monitor your email for any last-minute updates. Unforeseen circumstances, including weather or other factors, may result in schedule changes or cancellations.
