Guided Nature Walk | Trees as Teachers: Learning from the Forest
2:30pm - 4:00pm UTC
Seattle, Washington
Location Details
Lost Lake Trail, Seattle, 98118
In the Pacific Northwest, trees shape the world around us they create the air we breathe, cool and filter our waters, shelter wildlife, and influence the very climate we live in. From towering Douglas firs to resilient madronas along the shoreline, these trees are essential to the health of our ecosystems and communities.
Join Brianna Klein, Public Programs Manager, for a slow, intentional walk through the forest as we deepen our relationship with some of the Pacific Northwest’s most iconic trees Douglas fir, Western red cedar, bigleaf maple, madrona, Garry oak, and alder. Rooted in the Tend, Gather, Grow curriculum and teachings, this experience invites us to learn from the land through relationship, reciprocity, and care. Together, we’ll come to understand the ways these trees survive how they adapt, collaborate, and remain resilient through changing conditions and reflect on what we can learn from them. Using the art of noticing, we’ll engage our senses to observe textures, scents, shapes, and the subtle details that bring each tree to life.
This experience is more than tree identification. Through shared stories, ecological knowledge, and teachings, we’ll learn how trees collaborate, adapt, and give generously to the ecosystems and communities around them and reflect on how these lessons can guide us in our own lives.
