Julianna Bosmoe is the Working Lands Program Manager for Audubon Great Plains. In this role, she leads regional implementation of initiatives aimed at improving private landowners’ ability to practice bird-friendly land management. She also manages the Urban Woods and Prairies initiative in North Dakota. She joined Audubon in 2019 as a range ecologist, implementing programs such as Audubon Conservation Ranching, Conservation Forage Program, and the Prairie Management Toolbox.
Prior to joining Audubon, she benefited from being able to participate in endangered monkey research, prescribed fire implementation, bison management, conservation easement evaluation, and grassland bird habitat research of all kinds. Juli has a Bachelor of Arts degree in African Studies from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences from South Dakota State University. She has worked for state, federal, and non-profit conservation organizations in Wisconsin, Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Dakota.
Juli learned to appreciate nature from her field guide-toting parents. The appreciation for nature developed into a passion for grassland conservation after spending time at SDSU. The summers she spent working at Samuel H. Ordway Prairie near Leola, SD were especially important in solidifying her love of the prairie.
Juli lives in Moorhead, MN with her husband, young son, and two dogs. She spends her time outside of work traveling, camping, hiking, and fixing up her aging family cabin.
