Policy and Advocacy in the Southwest

Advancing policies that protect birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow.

Water, land, and wildlife conservation policy in the Southwest can help shape and improve our local communities. Audubon Southwest engages in the Arizona and New Mexico state legislatures to promote and strengthen laws that steward our lands, waters, and wildlife. Working across the aisle with both Republicans and Democrats, we have helped affect change over the years.

We support continued investment in the state agencies charged with managing, conserving, and protecting our natural resources as well as funding that helps improve the health of our lands and waters.

The decisions made by our local, state, and federal officials impact birds, fish, other wildlife—and of course, people. And right now, it’s as important as ever to stand up and be heard.

Birds can’t speak for themselves; we have to speak on their behalf. Your voice is needed to ensure we have healthy, flowing rivers, and habitat for people and birds across the southwest. Join us to advance policies that protect birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow.
