A bird of the coast, previously named for the spiky tips on its tail feathers (when it was previously considered a subspecies of the Sharp-tailed Sparrow). The Saltmarsh Sparrow has an unusual mating system for a songbird, with males simply roving about looking for females rather than defending a nesting territory.
