About Audubon Mid-Atlantic

Learn about our history and staff.

Audubon Mid-Atlantic is a regional office of the National Audubon Society and works in Maryland, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia to advance Audubon’s important mission: to protect birds and the places they need.  Through Audubon’s Flight Plan , we have identified X priority bird species and work in the habitats that these birds require for survival.

Each spring and fall, millions of birds use Pennsylvania and Maryland’s forests, rivers, coasts, marshes and cities as temporary homes on their hemispheric migratory journeys. Here they find the food and shelter they need to sustain them on their long flights. For many additional bird species, the Mid-Atlantic region is where their lives begin and some of them may never leave.

We envision a Mid-Atlantic region of healthy and resilient ecosystems where birds thrive and where all people have access to nature and a voice in environmental stewardship.  Our 2023 blueprint  describes our goals and strategies in more detail.
