Prior to our Monthly Speakers Meeting please join an early evening bird walk at Gilbert Riparian Preserve. Let go of the day's stresses as we observe the birds' last feeding of the day! Sometimes there is frenzied activity before sunset to find a safe roosting place from owls and other predators. If you are not an early morning person, this is a good event for you! Gilbert Riparian Preserve is one of the best places in the Phoenix metro area for birding. Many waterfowl arrive from the north to stay for the winter. The native trees and shrubs that line the flat wide paths provide food and protection for many of our year-round species and migrants. We might be treated with an awesome sunset reflecting on the water! Leaders: Karen Stucke-Jungemann and Sue Black ***READ the liability waiver** for this event [here](https://tinyurl.com/5p86mfvd) before registering. Bring: binoculars (if you have them) and a phone or flashlight as the paths may get dark before we return to the library parking lot. Optional: a sandwich or snack. Meet on the sidewalk by northeast corner of the library, facing Guadalupe Rd. After the walk ends there will be time for a sandwich or snack before the meeting at 7:00pm. Doors open at 6:00pm. Information about the meeting can be found at desertriversaudubon.org. Registration is required. This event is limited to 15 participants. This walk will meet monthly from November through March. Watch for shifting starting times for each event. _Black-necked Stilt. Photo: Donald S Pelley. Courtesy of Desert Rivers Audubon._
