"Enjoy a break from the low desert with a trip up into the high country to visit some of the most beautiful habitats and scenery of Zion National Park that most visitors never see. This tour ends up at nearly 8,000’. We’ll make stops in the pinyon-junipers and into patches of habitat increasingly dominated by montain scrub, aspen, and big conifers. We’ll visit high elevation reservoirs and Lava Point, the highest point in Zion NP, as we search for specialties in the higher elevations of Greater Zion. The main targets are the California Condor and Zone-tailed Hawk which soar above.
We will be driving on paved roads to Kolob Terrace (up to 60 miles round trip from meet-up location) with 3 miles of dirt roads (round trip) to Lava Point.
Up to 2 miles on dirt roads. Some maintained dirt trails. Uneven ground if going off the trail.
Restrooms at Lava Point Campground and Kolob Reservoir.
Mwwt up location is "Maverick in LaVerkin
