A deciduous, perennial tree with a large trunk and wide-reaching canopy, it grows 75 to 100 feet tall and produces large, maple-shaped leaves and globular fruit. It grows in full sun to shade, and in moist, sandy loams or silty clays. This tree is deer resistant and attracts birds especially for shelter.
