Common names for this plant also include Bluebell Bellflower, Harebell, and Witches’ Thimble. It is an herbaceous perennial that grows 1 to 2 feet tall, and produces nodding, blue or violet flowers on delicate stalks in the summer. Bluebell-of-Scotland is adaptable, growing in full sun to shade, and in dry, sandy, and well-drained soils. Note that though the seedlings of this plant germinate quickly, it takes two years for them to flower.
