"The road up Leeds Canyon (often called Silver Reef Canyon) to Oak Grove climbs gradually from the warm desert floor into a cooler, greener pocket of habitat tucked along the canyon’s perennial stream. The combination of flowing water, mature trees, and protective canyon walls makes this area a lush oasis and a favorite stop for both birds and birders alike. The ascent through scrub and pinyon-juniper produces desert sparrows, wrens, buntings, Green-tailed Towhee and Scott's Oriole. As you near Oak Grove the canopy thickens and the air cools, creating one of the most reliable migrant traps in the county, hosting a remarkable diversity of warblers, vireos, tanagers, and flycatchers, while year-round residents such as Song Sparrow and Spotted Towhee make use of the layered understory.
There will be up to 20 miles driving on dirt / gravel roads. Easy walking on dirt paths and roads.
Meet up location is Leeds City Park
60 Babylon Mill Rd, Leeds, UT 84746
Restrooms at meet up location and at Oak Grove Campground (if it's open).
